On September 16th, at about 4:40 p.m, the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an injury accident on Highway 24 East of Schoeman Rd near mile marker 340.8. Upon arrival Deputies learned that a 1997 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Daniel McDonald was driving east on Highway 24 when it was reported to have crossed the center line and was then struck by 2 west bound vehicles on Highway 24. Daniel McDonald, 18 years of age, of 1002 Poplar Street, Wamego, died at the scene. The drivers of the other vehicles, Corey Swisher, 44 of St.Mary’s, driving a 2006 Volvo V50, reported no injuries and Joshua Asbury, 35 of St.George, driving a 1997 Ford Expedition, was injured and transported to a Manhattan hospital.
