There are two options for VIN inspections:
- By appointment Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM (with the exception of county holidays). Inspections conducted by appointment are at the Sheriff’s Office in Westmoreland through the Records Department. There is a VIN inspection parking stall for your convenience.
- On location depending upon deputy availability.

Items needed for an inspection are:
- Vehicle
- Title (No Salvage, Rebuilt, or Antique titles)
- Driver’s License
- $20 Cash only
Pottawatomie County Can NOT do Salvage, Prior Salvage Inspections, Non-Highway Kansas titles, or Vehicles that are 35 years or older (These can only be completed by a Kansas Highway Patrol Officer. Call them at (785) 296-1346 for more information).
