On Thursday morning, June 24, 2016 at 4:04 a.m. Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s
Dispatch received a report of a residential burglary in progress at 5400 block of
Taylor’s View Road, rural Manhattan, Pottawatomie County. The victim in this
matter discovered an unknown male inside their residence. When discovered, the
male fled from the residence. Various items were also discovered missing
from this residence and were believed to have been taken by the male suspect.
With tips from area residence and evidence from the scene, Sheriff Deputies
and Detectives were able to develop a suspect. Around 1:00 p.m. the suspect
was located near this same area. The male suspect was identified as Mark Burghart
of Manhattan. He was taken into custody for Aggravated Burglary, Theft and possession
of drug paraphernalia. Burghart was taken to the Pottawatomie County Jail and bond was set
at 15,000 dollars.
