Pottawatomie County Opens Warming Stations

February 16, 2021

The Pottawatomie County Emergency Operations Center, along with other area partners, met this morning to discuss the continuing frigid temperatures, re-instated Phase III for the power grid causing rolling power outages of around 2 hours, and other details.

At this time, we are preparing to open Warming Stations (SHORT-TERM, temporary areas to warm-up while citizens make longer term arrangements as necessary). The Warming Stations will be located at the Fire Stations in Olsburg, Wheaton, St. George, and Havensville; as well as the Sunflower Room at the Public Works/KSU Extension Office in Westmoreland.

Again, these are temporary warming stations, not long-term shelters. If citizens need additional resources or information, please contact the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at 785-457-3353.
