Press Release for December 22nd, 2016

On the 22nd of December 2016 the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office responded to Walmart at 101 E Bluemont AVE, Manhattan KS. It was reported that on the 21st of December a white male purchased a flat screen TV using five fake $100 bills. The bills are marked “For Motion Picture Use Only”. We have been made aware that other of these instances have occurred at Riley County businesses as well. Please pay extra attention to any bills you receive. These bills are marked “For Motion Picture Use Only” on the front and back of the bill. They do look very similar to an actual bill. The picture of the president is not accurate on these bills. The suspect is is a white male with short medium brown hair, with a tattoo on the left side of the neck. There was a female with the suspect at Hyvee in Manhattan KS and we would like to identify her as well. If you have any information on this or any other crime please call the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office at 785-457-3353.
