Press Release for August 5th, 2016

On August 4th, at about 11:30 a.m. Kansas Wildlife and Parks Officer and a Pottawatomie County Deputy Sheriff were investigating a disturbance in the River Pond area of Tuttle Creek when an individual they were talking to ran from them. The individual went into the water and swam in the River Pond, in an attempt to keep from being arrested. Manhattan Fire Department who was using the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office rescue boat responded to the scene. Deputies boarded the boat and eventually took the individual into custody. The male individual who ran was wanted out of Wyandotte County for probation violation. He has been identified as Aaron L. Lewis, 21 year old male of Manhattan KS. He is currently being held at the Pottawatomie County Jail. Along with the Manhattan Fire Department, the Riley County Police Department and the Kansas Highway Patrol assisted in the capture of Lewis.
