Press Release for February 2nd, 2021

On January 26, 2021, the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Westmoreland CO-OP, 203 Highway 99, Westmoreland, Pottawatomie County, Kansas for a report of a burglary and theft. Deputies determined that an unknown person, or persons had forced entry into the business and removed money and other items.

A short time later, Deputies were dispatched to the Pottawatomie County Landfill, 8585 Wheaton Road, Wamego, Pottawatomie County, Kansas for a burglary and theft. Deputies were able to determine that both burglaries were likely connected.

Based on information developed by detectives during the investigation into both burglaries, a search warrant was executed at a residence located at 207 Kansas Street, Leonardville, Riley County, Kansas. The Riley County Police Department assisted Pottawatomie County Sheriff detectives in recovering stolen property from the two burglaries from the residence at 207 Kansas Street.

Phillip Rose, 28 year old, of Clay Center, was arrested at the residence by the Riley County Police Department on an outstanding burglary / theft warrant from Cloud County.

A number of stolen items from the aforementioned burglaries were recovered from the residence at 207 Kansas Street and detectives are continuing to investigate both burglaries.
