On August 19th of 2018, Pottawatomie County Sheriff Deputies responded to an injury accident in the Genes Heartland Foods parking lot, 1003 U.S. 24 Hwy. in Wamego at about 5:10 PM. Deputies arrived and learned that an 11 year old female had been struck by a trailer when the trailer was pulling out of the parking lot. The trailer was described as a red or orange flat-bed trailer and may have had welding bottles on it, possible a cutting torch. The trailer was pulled by what was described as a white pickup truck. The pickup and trailer were last seen westbound on Highway 24. The female was taken to the hospital and released with minor injuries. The Sheriff’s Office recently received additional details on this accident  that the pickup involved may possibly have blue stripes on the hood, and could be an extended cab GMC or Chevy.  It is also possible that the driver may not be aware that the female had been struck.
